About the event

During Pride Month, this Learning Series session will explore the importance of inclusive, affirming healthcare for LGBTQ+ communities and the ongoing challenges many individuals face when seeking care. While awareness of LGBTQ+ health needs has grown in recent years, disparities in access, quality of care, and health outcomes remain significant. Many LGBTQ+ individuals continue to encounter stigma, discrimination, and gaps in provider knowledge that can discourage engagement with healthcare systems and delay preventive care.

 

This conversation will examine the structural and social factors that contribute to health disparities affecting LGBTQ+ populations, including barriers to culturally competent care, gaps in data collection, and limited access to services that address both physical and mental health needs. Panelists will also highlight the critical role of inclusive clinical practices, such as respectful language, patient-centered communication, and welcoming care environments, in building trust and improving patient outcomes.
