About the event

As we honor Black History Month, it is essential to recognize the ongoing fight for health equity in Black communities. Despite recent policy changes and challenges, Black-led organizations, researchers, and advocates continue to drive solutions that promote better health outcomes.

This dynamic session, moderated by Dr. Tania M. Martin-Mercado (Dr. Tania), will explore the historical and systemic barriers to Black health equity, examine the impact of current policy shifts, and highlight the critical role of community-driven initiatives in advancing healthcare access, research, and representation.

Panelists Dr. Claude Louis-Charles and Grant McGaugh will provide expert insights into the intersection of policy, research, and advocacy, discussing strategies to ensure Black health remains a national priority—regardless of the shifting political landscape.

Key Topics:

·         The historical and systemic barriers affecting Black health equity

·         The impact of recent policy reversals on Black communities (Medicaid, FDA diversity rollbacks, environmental justice cuts)
