Disease Research Support

Our organization supports clinical and translational research, and other scientific studies to better understand the conditions that impact marginalized, disenfranchised or underserved communities. We identify new and seasoned researchers to develop new treatments and therapies for diseases and conditions that affect these communities. Research in marginalized communities is a critical area of study aimed at understanding and addressing health disparities that exist among populations that face social, economic, and systemic disadvantages.

Identify Health Disparities

Disease research in marginalized communities helps to uncover disparities in disease prevalence, incidence, and outcomes. These disparities often result from complex interactions of factors such as poverty, limited access to healthcare, discrimination, environmental exposures, and more.

Cultural Competency

Researchers must be culturally competent to conduct research in marginalized communities. This means understanding the cultural context and tailoring research methods and interventions accordingly. It also involves recognizing historical traumas and acknowledging community resilience.

Understand Root Causes

Researchers delve into the underlying causes of health disparities. These may include social determinants of health like income inequality, housing instability, food insecurity, lack of education, and discrimination. Understanding these root causes is essential for designing effective interventions.

Equitable Access to Healthcare

Research findings should inform interventions that promote equitable access to healthcare services, preventive measures, and treatments for diseases prevalent in marginalized communities. This may involve advocating for improved healthcare infrastructure, expanding insurance coverage, and reducing financial barriers.
